DK Festival 2022

Excitement, unique energy, experiences, and meetings marked this year’s Communications Days held from the 31st of March to the 3rd of April at Rovinj’s Lone Design Hotel. The long-awaited Festival gathered the elite of the communications industry and featured evenings with prestigious awards for the best domestic advertisers and agencies.

The festival brought together the world’s leading creatives, digital experts and communicators to share their perspectives with the local cohort.

The festival program was full of excellent panel discussions in a non-formal atmosphere and talks in which local experts had the opportunity to express their views on current topics.

Communication Days hate rigidity and preconceived generic attitudes and adore expertise, authenticity, and a no-filter language. That is why the festival’s 360° stage hosts only the most daring speakers who confidently convey their knowledge and mastery.

Most brands could disappear, and no one would even notice. You need to have purposeful communication in order to be important to those you address.

Maria von Scheel-Plessen

Known for her passionate approach to the luxury industry and her expertise in combining communication insights with digital innovation, she explained how to create a bridge between an exclusive and traditional brand and a perfect digital user experience.

On the first day, participants enjoyed the ideas of James Victore, professional hell-raiser, designer and author of world bestseller Feck Perfuction: Dangerous Ideas of the Business of Life. His work has been celebrated by MoMA, the Louvre, and other major international museums. Unconditionally honest, he shared with participants what prevents them from achieving the career they want and living the life they have always dreamed of.

Rachel Lowenstein, powered by GroupM, Mindshare’s Global Director of inclusive innovation, whose professional premise is that media and brands have the economic power to address social inequalities, spoke on the topic of Web3, questioning whether it could rewrite the internet in favour of gender equality.

The Internet has let women down, and technology has failed to break the codes of patriarchy.

Technology cannot make the world a better place without us, but it is fascinating what we can create with neuro design. It emphasises the importance of understanding the subconscious of consumers and their decision-making process. Olga Gutiérrez de la Roza, who creatively led luxury brands such as Dolce Gabbana, Gucci, Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney, Puma, Lacoste, Hugo Boss, and others, shared on stage how these useful insights can become concrete results.

Vidya Manmohan and Chris Do also joined the program and spoke about privacy, sustainable business and inclusive industry.

The last day of the festival further strengthened the position of Communication Days; the festival participants especially enjoyed the Meet The Speakers Stage after the lecture, where they continued conversations started in the main hall.

Incredible creative energy travelled through the premises of the Lone Hotel, and the fact that the discussions exceeded their schedule and continued in an informal atmosphere showed that the Days of Communication exceeded all expectations.
