Art Park’s 6th anniversary
A unique open museum in Zagreb
This summer, Park Ribnjak becomes home to the unique, special and recognisable open art museum Art Park. From June till September of 2021, Park Ribnjak is a colourful open-air gallery, welcoming visitors with a rich programme and a cosy place to enjoy warm summer months.
In 2016 association Pimp My Pump and street art studio Lapo Lapo converted a park under Strossmayer boulevard into the first open-air museum presenting art in a new way. The park was cleaned and brought back to life by street art artists like Bare, Modul, Lonac and Lunar, giving the park a new visual identity.
The first Art Park Festival was held in the summer of 2016, creating a unique event in Croatia. Since 2019, the festival has been located in Ribnjak Park and continues to host many artists, musicians and workshops, becoming a favourite stop for both locals and tourists. This year’s festival rings in its 6th consecutive year celebrating art and music in the most colourful park in Zagreb.
A Space Odyssey in 2021
This year, Zagreb’s Park Ribnjak became the central point for spatial adventures. The theme for 2021 is A Space Odyssey – Launch, and Ribnjak was converted to a launching pad of fresh and carefully designed street art.
The festival opened with the launch of an Art park 006 aircraft during the weekend of June 11-13. Local artists got together and prepared a Big Bang of colours. The big mural is work by the art group A Morning Walk (Croatian: Jutarnja šetnja). It covers a 60-metre long wall following the main theme of the festival and gives new artistic value to the whole park.
The rest of the opening weekend was filled with performances from musicians like Jeff Jarunsky, Kuna, duo La Papa and Carlito and Zak. They will continue entertaining visitors until September.
The programme also includes after-work Yoga, a variety of workshops dedicated to art, poetry, acting, creative space for children, and movie screenings.
Visitors are invited to regularly check social media pages as organisers prepare events dedicated to raising awareness of sustainability, recycling, ‘going green’ stories, vintage bazaars, exhibitions and presentations of young artists.
The Art park Festival lasts until September 4th and is supported by the Zagreb Tourist Board and many sponsors.
